Following the success of OVADA’s previous Summer Residency programmes, we are delighted to announce an exciting collaborative opportunity for artists to pair with scientists in August/September 2019.

OVADA will select up to 4 artists at any stage of their career, including recent graduates, to take part in this programme. Artists will receive free studio space at OVADA and an opportunity to work directly with a group of scientists. The opportunity is only open to visual artists living and/or practicing in Oxfordshire.

The overall aim of this programme is to provide uninterrupted time and space for the development of new ideas in a stimulating creative environment. Residencies can be developed around a particular project, used as a way to experiment with new ways of working or to explore working on a larger scale in OVADA’s unique warehouse space. This year the residency programme has a particular focus on collaborative practice and the creative relationships between Art and Science. Up to four artists will be selected to collaborate alongside scientists, who are working in the field of biology. The aim of the residency is to be mutually beneficial and nurturing for both the participating artists and scientists, centered around interesting conversations and exchanges.
