Director of Cowley Road Works (the charity producing Oxford's Cowley Road Carnival)

Cowley Road Works has produced Cowley Road Carnival for over 10 years. The Carnival is an open, community based event for the whole of Oxford, inspired by the rich diversity of the Cowley Road area. The charity’s flagship community event is supported by work throughout the year including exhibitions, events, and outreach projects.

Following successful Carnivals in recent years, and in the third year of Arts Council England funded outreach programmes, the Charity is focusing on developing core operations and our funding base. The Trustees now wish to appoint a Director to oversee our work, with their support, and to lead on all aspects of the charity, including fundraising and strategic development, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and partners, and managing the Trust’s core team to ensure effective delivery of Carnival and other activities.

You’ll be a dynamic, creative and strategic thinker, with a passion for culture and community development, have excellent people and communication skills, and good financial management. You will be happy and effective leading a freelance team, routinely able to work to your own initiative, reporting to and working with trustees. The role is part-time, 4 days per week, £30,000 pro rata (i.e. £24,000)

The job description and information about the charity is available on our website: www.cowleyroadcarnival.co.uk. To apply please send your CV highlighting relevant work and skills, including 2 referees, and a covering letter outlining your interest in the role, relevant experience, skills, and what you would bring to it, to Sophie Slade, Trustee at sophie@cowleyroadworks.org. The closing date for applications is 5pm on Wednesday the 29th of May 2019. Interviews will be held in the second week of June 2019. Please send any queries about the post or recruitment process to the address above.
