Whilst building work takes place on site, The Story Museum is undertaking a programme of activities and initiatives to build and widen our visitor base and reach in order to extend access and deepen our level of community engagement. The new role of Participation Co-ordinator, supported by funding from Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund, will play a key role in cultivating and broadening our children and family visitors through our outreach activities and peripatetic programme during 2019, ensuring that these new audiences continue to engage with the Museum when it reopens in 2020.

The Participation Coordinator will work closely alongside the Programme team to ensure that our activities have the greatest potential impact on the target groups that we want to reach, ensuring that the voices of new and excluded groups and participants are heard and help shape all aspects of the Museum’s operations and programming. They will also help develop successful community partnerships in order to deliver shared objectives around social and learning impacts.

This post is part of our planned team expansion running alongside the Museum’s major redevelopment project scheduled for completion in Spring 2020.

This is a part-time post, 22.5 hours per week, fixed term contract until September 2020 with a salary of £20,000-£22,000 pro-rata, dependent on experience.
