The New Theatre is situated in the vibrant and historic City of Oxford, and has been the home of variety for over 100 years. With a capacity of 1785, the theatre plays host to leading opera and ballet companies, West End musicals, contemporary dance and sell-out pop and rock concerts. This planned seasons includes Jersey Boys, Kinky Boots, Nativity the Musical, Dr Dolittle and Welsh National Opera.

The Stage Door department plays a pivotal role in ensuring we offer outstanding customer service to staff and visiting companies, providing clear communication across the building, providing administrative support and having key building and fire safety responsibilities.

You'll be responsible for ensuring the Stage Door provide and welcoming, efficient and effective operation delivering exceptional customer service. The Stage Door provides a positive, helpful and friendly first point of contact and provides quality administrative, communications and reception support service for all departments, callers, visitors, contractors and visiting company personnel. The Stage Door is also the centre of our fire alarm system and plays an important role in the safety and security of our building. You'll also take responsibility for the full operation of the stage door, staff management, processes and procedures and working collaboratively across the building to foster excellent communication and teamwork.

Essential

Experience of providing customer experience to the highest standard
Experience in administrative work
Experience of managing people
Experience of managing rotas
Able to take and act upon instruction in a timely manner
The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Good verbal and written communication skills
‘Can do’ attitude
Able to use own initiative, adopting a proactive approach to developing the role and facilities
Attention to detail
Flexibility to work a variety of hours to meet business requirements, including evenings, weekends and public holidays where required
Desirable

Experience of working in an arts/ theatre environment
Experience working in a reception environment
Knowledge of Fire warden/ evacuation procedures
Experience of being a key holder
Experience in assisting with events
First Aid at Work qualification
The Stage Door Supervisor role is a 30 hour per week contract on a rota basis.
