Russell Highsmith writer

As part of the Shadowlight Artists Project (https://shadowlightartists.org.uk), Film Oxford is again working with Russell Highsmith a hemiplegic writer with learning disabilities. We put on a play of his at the Cornerstone in Didcot last year using student actors. That play was the adaptation to the stage of a TV script he’d written. He is now being mentored through the writing of a full-length stage play that will be performed using professional actors at the Old Fire Station in Oxford in September. He’s wanting to use actors with disabilities. He’s not specifying the disabilities because we thought that might create problems when it comes to casting so the production will work around the disabilities that are brought to the rehearsal process. The only proviso is that they do need to be actors who can work within the discipline of a written script.

We are looking for 2f and 2m actors with playing age of late 20s/early 30s. Rehearsals are in Oxford on Sept 3rd, 4th, 5th, 13th, 14th, 17th. Performances on the evenings of Sept 19th & 20th.

There is payment which works out about half Equity minimum (£50 a day). There is also nothing in the budget for travel or accommodation so the actors need to be local.
