Job Title Volunteer Engagement Officer (Req No. 001418)
Service Area / Directorate Community Services
Salary and Grade G5: £25,307 to £27,125 per annum - (pro rata for part time)
Contract Permanent

Location Oxford - Town Hall

The role
Oxford City Council’s Museum of Oxford is a local social history museum that tells the story of Oxford and its people and with a busy outreach programme for schools, community groups and the wider public.

The Museum is embarking upon a £3m, Heritage Lottery Funded (HLF) supported project of Oxford’s Hidden Histories. This will open up and share the heritage of the city’s communities through stories that radiate out from the historic Town Hall building at its centre through making objects currently in store accessible; uncovering archival records mapping the City’s development; and exploring Oxford's intangible heritage through the memories of local people. In addition, it will enable the museum to develop as a community hub; for people to engage in exploring the heritage to inform their lives today and to take a pride in sharing and celebrating their city’s story.

With work on the activities starting in Autumn 2018, on the building in Spring 2019 and a planned reopening date of July 2020, we are now seeking a Volunteer Engagement Officer (VEO). This is a new HLF funded position which will play a key role in leading and ensuring the successful delivery of the new volunteering initiatives, including the recruitment of new volunteers and devising an exciting programme of training and development opportunities for volunteers (as detailed in the Oxford’s Hidden Histories HLF Activity Plan - available on request).

If you are interested and able to demonstrate you have the relevant skills and experience, we would like to hear from you.
