Become a Trustee for Cowley Road Works

Cowley Road Works is looking to enhance our Board by appointing a several new Trustees. We are a small, independent charity, which produces the annual Cowley Road Carnival, along with a programme of year round arts and outreach. The Carnival is one of the biggest, free, outdoor cultural events in Oxford and one of the most successful carnivals in the UK. Cowley Road Works want to increase the delivery of more and better arts and cultural events within the diverse community of East Oxford. This is an exciting time to join us as we plan to build on the success of Carnival 2017, which saw over 45,000 visitors enjoy a day of art, music, dance, food, poetry and performance.
We are looking for enthusiastic people with a range of skills and experience to join us, including:
• Legal
• Fundraising
• Wealth management
• Arts and/or Carnival
• Local residents and traders
• Volunteer management
• Education
• Marketing

However we are particularly looking for a Treasurer and Chairperson. Our Chair of Trustees, Brian Trotman will be stepping down at the end of this year, after a successful tenure. We are currently looking for a new Chairperson to take Cowley Road Works through this exciting phase of expansion and development.

A commitment of attending our trustee meetings, currently monthly, and being contactable by our Executive Director for focus sessions and prospect meetings where necessary, is important. There is an expectation that trustees attend key events such as the annual Carnival and important fundraising events. Applicants would ideally live within commuting distance of our offices in Oxford, although those living further afield would be considered, if appropriate.

If you’d like to help us with the valuable work we do, and you see benefit of promoting community cohesion by providing cultural events and experiences within disenfranchised communities, this could be a great opportunity for you.
For further information on the role of Treasurer, or Chairperson (please state your interest), contact Johannah Aynsley, the Executive Director via the following email Director@cowleyroadworks.org if you would like to help us expand and increase the work we do. We would love to hear from
