We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic new volunteer to help with our successful and established Senior Rock School programme for ages 12+ which runs from 5.30-7.00pm on Friday evenings. The new term will begin on Friday 22nd September and will run for 10 weeks, with a final performance to friends and family at the end of November. The sessions take place at The Studio Bicester, Unit 2 Crown Walk, Bicester, OX26 6HY.
Work alongside experienced musician Rob Gilmour to deliver these sessions which aim to support our young people in expanding their skills, building confidence and developing their identities as young musicians through composing and performing their own pieces. This term we will also be collaborating with award-winning music charity Readipop on their established Urban Orchestra Project - an inspiring and alternative approach to creating new music.
This Role would require you to help set up the instruments and the practice room before the session begins and pack up the equipment after it ends. You would also be required to support the individuals in composing and learning their songs and performing them together as bands.
No musical qualifications are required but a knowledge of basic musical principles and the ability to play an instrument, as well as personal experience of performing in a band, would be beneficial. Previous experience of working with young people and children is not essential.
We are looking for someone enthusiastic and willing to take a hands on approach to sharing their music knowledge and skills - someone who is patient and encouraging, flexible, dynamic and sensitive to the needs of the group and the individuals within it. This is voluntary role.
