Crisis is the national charity for homeless people in the UK. Based at the Old Fire Station is Crisis Skylight Oxford which offers education, training and support to people who are experiencing homelessness.

Department/ Project Information:
Crisis Skylight Oxford offers Guitar Group sessions on Wednesdays 1-3 pm. The class is for clients who've started to play guitar or would like to improve their skills and play in a group and develop their own sense of style. We are looking for a volunteer to help the tutor and provide support to beginners as well as help more experienced progress. This would suit someone who is a confident guitar player and willing to share their skills by teaching others. You'll need patience and enjoy being in a busy, creative atmosphere.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Helping to prepare and set up the room
• Helping to plan lessons and contributing ideas
• Helping to lead small groups with tasks set by tutor and provide support when necessary
• In particular assisting beginners to develop skills to enable them to participate with more experienced players
• Helping to tidy the room at the end

Skills/ Experience & Personal Qualities:
• Ability to play the guitar to a standard which would enable you to help beginners
• Familiarity with chord symbols and guitar tablature
• Ability to explain and demonstrate clearly
• Patience
• Ability to relate to people of differing abilities and backgrounds
