The Museum of Oxford (MOX) is the only museum dedicated to telling the story of the Oxford and its people.
Here at MOX, we have undergone a significant redevelopment, restoring the Victorian grandeur of the building and reimagining how we tell this city’s fascinating tales.
We have two new galleries which show the changing story of Oxford through its history and people. From football to fairgrounds, marmalade to Morris Motors, patron saints to pubs, barges, bones, and all types of quirky customs—there’s something for everyone. A new space, called Museum Makers, encourages school children and communities to engage with our learning programme in a fun, informal space.
Through collection items, video, audio, and interactive displays, the exhibitions uncover what makes Oxford such a special place to live, work and study.
It’s a great place for locals to explore their community stories and for visitors to discover our amazing city.
The Museum is now open, Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm and is free to visit.
We have unique, affordable, city-centre spaces suitable for corporate, community and private events available for booking. Our Museum Makers and Learning Studio are also available for filming and photography. Please visit our website for more information https://museumofoxford.org/venue-hire
