"My art is about the emotions and the states of being that people experience in various life situations. Each painting is like a still frame of the chosen moment – a glimpse of the situation with focus on the atmosphere.
The physical act of painting and the enjoyment I get from manipulating the surface of a painting I create are the driving forces in my art, even more so than the subject of my work.
I search constantly for the combinations of colours, textures and shapes that awaken in me a sense of pleasure and satisfaction.
The exact subject of my work becomes defined quite late in the process of painting. At some point the emotions and associations become clear and specific, and only then do I let the subject of the painting evolve further in that direction. I use a symbolic, abstract way to illustrate my subject. The result appears as a mixture of abstract areas with an emotional quality (shape, texture, colour) but without any recognizable form, anchored by more defined symbols connected with the subject."
