Cherwell Theatre Company is a creative home for young theatre-makers in Banbury and the surrounding areas.

Through active participation in theatre projects, we create opportunities to inspire, train, nurture and develop young performers, directors, stage managers, designers and technicians. We strive to serve our participants and our audiences by producing ambitious, innovative, affordable and accessible theatre for our community. Our work is for everyone though we are particularly interested in creating strong female roles and inspiring non gender stereotype characters. Our patron is Sir Trevor Nunn.

Established in 2004 by Nasser Memarzia, we have since presented: many family theatre productions; three festivals showcasing local young writers, directors, designers and performers; two 'Theatre in Education' productions playing to more than 100,000 schoolchildren in our district; and a number of street theatre and site-specific works such as ‘A Shakespeare Summer Soiree’ at Broughton Castle.

Our weekly youth theatre is the core of everything we do, and our alumni have gone on to train at prestigious drama schools including RADA, Mountview, The Central School of Speech & Drama, Italia Conti, The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts. Many choose to return to work with us, as professionals, post-training. Others have also gone on to successful roles in non-arts based jobs.

Cherwell Theatre Company is proud to welcome all young voices, regardless of background or experience. We hold no auditions, and as a registered charity with low overheads, are able to keep our fees low and offer bursary places to those that need them. We are proud to provide creative opportunities for professional actors, facilitators, directors, designers, stage managers and technicians, and are particularly interested in hearing from those based in Oxfordshire or it's neighbouring counties.

As a registered charity (no. 1137145) we don't have any full time members of staff manning the office, so the best way to get in touch with any of our team is to send us an email to cherwelltheatreco@gmail.com or fill in the contact form on our website: http://cherwelltheatrecompany.co.uk/
We can then arrange for the appropriate member of staff to call you back. Also, if you are interested in finding out more about CTC’s Youth Theatre or productions please email us.
