Gallery Manager

(20 hrs /week) £13,500 - £18,500 pro-rata

Part time 4 days / week.

The Jam Factory is seeking an enthusiastic, warm and creative gallery manager.

This is an ideal opportunity to be fully involved in all aspects of the Arts Centre. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact, responsible for liaising with artists, tutors, models and public, curating and setting up exhibitions, managing the stock, marketing and press relations and general gallery administration.

Previous gallery experience and a strong knowledge of contemporary art is preferred. The ideal candidate will have administrative experience, demonstrable research and writing skills and be a good communicator. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is required.

• Must demonstrate a high standard of creative initiative • Excellent communication skills • An understanding and appreciation of the arts from various perspectives • Excellent organization skills and the ability to synthesize a variety of projects alongside each other. • Good I.T skills and a knowledge of Microsoft and Adobe applications

Job Roles

• First point of contact for gallery and dealing with any relevant enquiries • Curate and install all exhibitions • Organise and promote opening events • Designing marketing materials (i.e. labels and posters, promoting life drawing and exhibitions) • Organising courses (liaising with all relevant parties involved for life drawing, painting and other courses) • Updating and maintaining the arts centre website • Sourcing artists (requesting exhibition proposals and selecting artists) • Working alongside artists and arts organisations to create mutually beneficial projects • Planning forthcoming exhibitions and events • Administrative tasks, e.g. invoicing
