This course covers the principals of directing drama for the screen and shows students how to apply them in practice. It is run by film-maker Simon Hook, who made several award-winning shorts before going on to direct more than sixteen hours of broadcast television. He demonstrates the principals of directing drama through analysis of film and television clips and follows them up with practical exercises with the camera.

Directing Screen Drama is a weekend course for students wishing to learn or develop their directing skills.

The course is designed for those wishing to make their first step into video production. Students will work in one group of five to produce a short video using our digital cameras and editing digitally with Adobe Premiere Pro software.

This introduction to video-making covers the whole process of video production from the initial idea through to a finished film. The course is designed for women wishing to make their first step into video production. The six students will be given a written brief to produce a short documentary video that relates to the topic of International Women’s Festival 2012. They will then work together to develop the documentary idea, shoot it on our digital equipment, and then edit the film with Adobe Premiere computer software.

Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at artists, designers and developers who are new to Flash and want to get to grips with the user interface and learn the basics of animation and interactivity.

Assumed Knowledge

As this course is aimed at beginners all that is assumed is that delegates are familiar with computer use, the web, its terminology and how Flash is used within this environment. Drawing skills not essential. PCs and Macs are available, although you may not get a choice as to which you use.
